Unlocking the potential of girls is crucial for our nation’s progress. According to a McKinsey study on gender equality, if all girls in India complete their education and join the workforce, our country could add a staggering $770 billion to its GDP by 2025. What more reason do we need to believe that investing in our girls today is the way to a brighter future?
Let’s all come together to raise awareness of the importance of girls completing their higher secondary education and help them shine!
Even though the Right to Education Act 2009 promised free and compulsory education for children up to age 14, many girls still can’t reach higher secondary school. Societal norms, child marriage, and inadequate school infrastructure are some of the biggest barriers preventing girls from completing their education. These challenges lead to girls dropping out of school, discontinuing their education, and often marrying early.
