Durva's journey to academic excellence through Scholarship Support 

A bright and determined young student, Durva faced significant challenges in her academic  journey. Durva’s parents had separated, leaving her mother to shoulder the entire responsibility of  supporting the family. With a younger sibling to care for and no permanent home, Durva’s mother  struggled to meet the family’s basic needs, including paying for both children’s school fees. 

The financial strain made it difficult for her mother to provide additional educational resources, such as  tuition classes, which were beyond their reach. Durva relied solely on self-study at home, despite having  doubts and gaps in understanding various subjects. 

With the support of the scholarship, Durva’s family received much-needed financial relief. The  scholarship covered her school fees, allowing her mother to focus on other basic needs without the  constant worry of affording her children's education. Additionally, Durva was provided with after-school  coaching classes, a resource that was previously out of her reach. The coaching not only helped her  clarify doubts in various subjects but also provided her with a learning environment where she could  excel. Durva also participated in life skills and counseling sessions that were part of the holistic support  offered. These sessions helped her set clear academic and personal goals, enhancing her focus and time  management. 

Through the counseling program, Durva gained new found clarity in her studies and became more  organized and determined to achieve her goals. Thanks to the combined support of the scholarship,  coaching classes, and counseling sessions, Durva saw a dramatic improvement in her academic  performance. She recently scored an impressive 92% in her unit test exams. 

Education uninterrupted: How scholarships are changing lives 

A quality education plays a crucial role in shaping a child's ability to learn, secure a job and build a  future. However, children from low-income families often face significant barriers in accessing or  completing their education. To address this challenge, we created an initiative to meet the financial  needs of students, ensuring their education remains uninterrupted. We assist underprivileged school  children, promote girl child education, support youth, and youth with disability. For many children and  their families, a scholarship offers more than just financial support - it symbolizes hope, a promise for  the future, and a pathway to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty. It provides equal access to  opportunities and the possibility of upward social mobility. 

Concern India Foundation: Over the past 33 years, our initiatives have positively impacted more than 6.2  million marginalized and underprivileged individuals across 16 states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat,  Odisha, Karnataka, Delhi, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Our 

efforts benefit a diverse range of groups, including children, youth, women, people with disabilities, the  elderly, farmers, weavers, and others in both rural and urban settings.
